HABITAT FOR HUMANITY MAUI, INC

Habitat for Humanity Maui (HHM) was incorporated in 1997 and officially became an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in 1998. We were an all-volunteer organization for the first five years before hiring our first Executive Director in 2003. Habitat for Humanity Maui builds and sells homes to low income families at a zero interest and no profit basis. We serve families that earn between 25% and 80% of the Maui County median income. Habitat for Humanity Maui believes that through shelter we can build strength and stability for families and our community. There are various housing programs offered at Habitat for Humanity Maui. Our primary program are new construction builds which include single family or multi-family housing. In this program home-buyers have the option to purchase a home within a Habitat for Humanity Maui development or build a Habitat home on an existing lot owned by the homeowner. We also offer assistance to existing homeowners through our program, “A Brush with Kindness”. This program helps families that are in need of critical repairs and retrofits so that they can remain in their home safely. All applicants interested in our housing programs are required to meet all Habitat for Humanity Maui guidelines. Serving all of Maui County.

HALE MAHAOLU HOMEOWNERSHIP/HOUSING COUNSELING

Hale Mahaolu, a private non-profit corporation, was organized in 1967 and has been a sponsor, developer, owner and manager of 16 different properties (approximately 1,100 units) in Maui County (including the islands of Molokai and Lanai). The corporation’s purpose is to develop and manage safe, sanitary, decent housing as well as provide supportive services for very low to moderate income seniors, families and individuals in Maui County. Our objective is to provide rental housing, related facilities, and supportive services specially designed to meet the physical, social, and psychological needs of our residents and to contribute to their health, security, happiness, and usefulness in an independent living setting. All Hale Mahaolu complexes are smoke-free.

The Mission of Hawai‘i HomeOwnership Center is to provide education, information and support to create successful first-time homeowners in Hawai‘i. By addressing barriers and increasing rates of home ownership, the HomeOwnership Center aims to build stronger families and communities throughout the state of Hawai‘i .
